WOOD PANELING
With its roots deep in American history, wood paneling is as much a part of America’s heritage as George Washington and apple pie. Yet before coming across the Atlantic, wood paneling made an impression in some of the most opulent homes of Renaissance and Baroque Europe. As a combination of Early American and Classic European, modern wood paneling brings an heir of distinction and elegance to contemporary walls.
Though it appears limited by form and color, wood paneling is perhaps more versatile than you would imagine. Myriad combinations can be created when the styles of recessed, raised and beadboard wood paneling are blended with the colors of oak, maple and mahogany. And wood paneling need not be afraid to embrace white, cream and splashes of color.
The bedroom can be adorned with brilliant white recessed panels that span from the plush caramel carpet to the center of the fresh peach walls. If rich hardwood floors help to create your perfect bedroom, complement the colors with a blanket of coral that flawlessly combines wall and paneling.
In the study, raised panels of deep oak converge with a book shelf filled with the works of William Shakespeare and Edgar Allen Poe while cream, raised wood paneling frames a living room window that looks out to a field of blossoming red apple tress.
Beadboard, with its slim, sleek design, can traverse a rich blue wall to bridge white wainscoting and wooden ceiling trim as you gaze into the bathroom mirror, preparing for a spectacular night at the opera. Or a dining room rich with pink and white muraled- wallpaper can be gently laced with narrow beadboard that sits below a stretch of bright fuchsia trim. And once you have invited wood paneling into your home, there is no end to the warmth and subtle elegance it will provide.Submitted by,
